Discover the development of biological sex, address intersexuation and its medical and ethical issues (see the Bioscope website). What is the difference between sex and gender? How are genital organs formed? What is intersexuation? Why is the clitoris less well known in 2019 than the penis? By putting themselves in the shoes of a fictional couple, the groups of students approach the development of biological sex (genetic, gonadic, phenotypic) in order to determine and then make in clay the genital organs of the future child. In conclusion, during the presentation of the babies in each family, the medical and ethical issues related to intersexuation are discussed, as well as the concept of sex and gender continuum.

We will calculate the date of origin (i. e. explosion) of the Nebula Crab by comparing three pictures taken in 1942, 1976, and 1999. Since 1921 it is known that this nebula is expanding, and in 1928, Edwin Hubble calculated that its origin should date back to 900 years ago. They also linked its birth with the explosion of a supernova in 1054 as documented in old chinese texts. You will walk in Hubble's steps and calculate the expansion rate of the nebula, to compute when the star at its origin exploded.

Feel yourself in the shoes of a scientists from the Environment protection department. You have received several water samples from different parts of a lake. You need to determine the pollutants present in water and locate which factory causes water contamination. The lake water is used as tap water by a big city on the lake, you need to hurry to prevent the citizens from a potential danger. You will use different protocols and prepare the report in order to find the culpable factory. Among the simulated procedures you will perform the tests for organic and inorganic compounds in solid and water samples, water ph tests.
